Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay, in Va., I never learned the lesson....do NOT go outside barefoot at nite....I would scream and howl everytime I stepped on one of those damn things! Ushhh, between your toes, nasty! I hate them and get sick pleasure out of pouring the salt on 'em.OmeOmynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447315275293520501.post-84312654098249318772009-06-02T14:42:21.294-07:002009-06-02T14:42:21.294-07:00we use beer too.. the cheapest you can find. I HATE slugs. thank God they don't get that big here, but they still should not exist on this planet. :-oCorinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12507657541309954566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447315275293520501.post-44603850587683625882009-06-01T20:34:58.765-07:002009-06-01T20:34:58.765-07:00Just a note about pouring salt directly on the soi...Just a note about pouring salt directly on the soil, in time you WILL ruin your soil while your trying to kill the ugly things.

Bucket full of really soapy water, flashlight at night and drop them in.

Or boil yeast and honey then burry a deep dish in the ground up to the rim, fill with the yeast honey mix, they will crawl in and drown. Discard and fill again every day.

By the way snails and slugs can't stand copper. It gives them a slight electric shock when they come in contact with it. It doesn't kill them but they will avoid it. So bands of copper around tree trucks, planters, hoops around the base of plants, they will avoid crawling over it. You can get copper barrier tape if you dont have any copper sheeting. Sandpaper barriers do the same kind of thing.

Possums, chickens, ducks, turtles, tortoises, rats, some birds, and snakes, will prey on snails and slugs. Most people that have chickens and ducks hardly ever see a slug or a snail.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447315275293520501.post-67245917781834806472009-06-01T05:36:27.007-07:002009-06-01T05:36:27.007-07:00i have used beer...you pour beer in shallow dishes...i have used beer...you pour beer in shallow dishes and the slugs will go to it and drown, but you must replace it everyday, so that is rather expensive...

i'm nervous chemicals on plants, so i just use salt!!!

i hate 'em too!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4447315275293520501.post-49041963038852097442009-05-31T19:40:23.091-07:002009-05-31T19:40:23.091-07:00I just googled and there is a product called Slugg...I just googled and there is a product called Sluggo, but it seems a little pricey.
