The fucking disk

Let me see if I can explain this without my head exploding. The camera is a Canon Power Shot SD1200IS. Takes great close ups, nice detail. I can't get the pictures to the computer. Their fucking program on disk is a piece of rat assed shit from hell. Tried using my old camera program for it, it won't recognize it. Tried deleting and reloading their crummy piece of shit program, nope. That doesn't work. Then Miss Peggy was called in, she's the camera person. She says it's fucked too. We took the camera to her house, she has a Canon too. It recognized the camera and uploaded the photos. So, it seems it's the damn faulty disk. I'm going to try and load her program in here and see what happens. I'm still so fucking mad I could spit nails. I spent the extra money to get a decent camera and this shit pisses me off. It's Lissa birthday weekend and I'll probably have to use my old shitty camera. Someone said take it back. If I can't get this shit to work, I will, but, it's not that easy. I live in rural hell, I had to drive to another town to buy it and I have to work..then have a birthday party. I don't have time for this fish shit and I'm so pissed off. And I have to put on a happy fucking face for the kid when I want to kill something.

Someone in comments suggested a card reader..what's that?? I am so fed up..I even tried switching the card to the old camera. I hate cameras!!!!!! I want my money back! I want to sue them for mental anguish!!!!!!!!! I want to kick them in the nuts! Bastard camera peoples!!!!!!!! Warts on the anus of socitety!

my suggestion is to delete all the programs that are recognizing your camera. then just plug the camera into the computer and a hardware wizard SHOULD pop-up.

if that doesn't work i would use the new camera, then load the memory card into your old camera to upload them until you get the time to go into town to get a new one.

hope it works out!! have fun at lil lissa's party!!

oh i just remembered.. you could also go to canon's website and download the software/drivers

Old camera reads "faulty card" when switching them. Good idea, won't work here. Thanks.

I deleted..no hardware wizard pops up. Nope.

Thanks you guys, but, I think I'm fucked. If this new program I borrowed doesn't work, I'll delete and try the website.

Keep suggesting things..I keep trying them. Thanks.

Great. I just found a website that talks about the bugs in Canon programs and how computers can't recognize files.

directly moving pics from camera to computer & onto disk is how my kids do it. Just a straight shot. If you don't want to transfer to a disk just download them directly to Walgreens, CVS or Wal Marts or whomever site for developing too. My kids both have Kodaks and love them. Canon should be awesome. Def write them an email to the "contact us" dept. Lissa's b'day pics will be great. You will get it figured out before then. Lots of great suggestions on here. I hate being THAT pissed off. Rage! It's because you pay good hard earned money for something of a splurge only to get screwed. Like the manufacturer is laughing at you. It does suck. If you call I just hope you get somebody that speaks English!!! We usually get Pakistani's for shit like that. Can't understand a GD word they say. Good luck girl.

No offence, but, why the fuck would I go to Walgreens to get my own goddamn digital photos??? We don't even have a store like that here. I'd have to drive 100 miles to get my photos??? And I have a former Pakistani friend who reads and comments here and I understand her just fine. It's the program writers who should be killed. All of them.

Pat, can you borrow Ms. Peggy's disk and load the software onto your computer?

Pat said...

I just tried that. There's still something wrong. I give up. That's it. I'm taking the fucker back and trading it for the Kodak Easy Share and I'll spend the extra money on drugs. Lots of drugs.

former Pakistani? How is that possible? LOL.
You either are or you aren't.

The Walgreens suggestion was just to save you the trouble of downloading onto a disk, the prints get made directly from the content you send to them online. Everything is direct. Camera to computer to photo pick up. Unless of course you have a picture developer. Then thats great. Sorry I pissed you off even more. :(

Like I said. My kids both have Kodaks and love them. Never had one problem.

I work in a law office where we are slavishly dependent on computerization. Technology is NOT your friend. At any given moment you can hear the agonized, expletive-ful howls of another victim of AI arrogance. Unrecognized commands, painful printer malfunctions, software update interruptions, incompatibility issues.....my conspiracy theorist friend tells me it's a form of planned obsolescence to keep us all scrambling around so we don't notice what's going on in the Big Picture. Persevere, Pat! Don't let the bastards get to ya!

LMAO! Thanks. I have the reciept in hand and I took two pain pills. I will be alright eventually.

Connect your camera to your computer via USB.

Turn the camera on.

Go to "my computer", double click on "removable drive" (or whichever indicates it's an external drive).

Open the first folder (usually is titled "DCIM"), it will take you to another folder titled with the camera name and a number, open it. Your pics should be there. If not, try all the folders you see in that drive, but I'm pretty sure by memory it's the first one when you double click the external drive.

Copy and paste in your image folder. And there you have it! No software needed. I hope that helps. That works with ANY brand. DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE, it will make your head explode!!!!!

The SD card reader is an external device you plug in to your computer via USB. They have it a Wally world, and most electronic retailers. You just retrieve the memory card from your camera (provided you *have* a memory card, usually located where the batteries go, if not, only the usb cable will work as you can't really take the internal memory out of the camera). No software needed, and you can also follow the steps I wrote before. Copy and paste. That's what I do. Good luck, if this doesn't work let me know.

If you use msn messenger, add me and I can walk you through later (I'm "gatomon_76"). I have done that with my mom (she's a thousand miles away, in Ecuador) when she wanted to get things out of the camera. she kept forgetting the steps, so we did this on a regular basis.

Re: faulty card, if you have a memory card, did you reformat it before putting it in the new camera? That can be a problem too, you need to reformat the memory card.

gardenhoe said...

Thanks. While I was at work I thought about a faulty card. Why did my other camera say "faulty card" when I switched them? Should all cards work in all cameras??? I wonder....oh, god , I'm sick of this.

gardenhoe said...

Okay, I'm trying another new memory card right now.

gardenhoe said...

Didn't work. Meissa thanks though. You sure know a lot about camera stuff.

Technology is not my friend and as a teacher, I'm expected to use it every day. Can you imagine sitting in a room with 30 kids and having your plans al set on using one program and something screws up--you don't know what it is or how to fix it and the kids are starting to climb vthe wall and out the windows! NO! TECHNOLOGY IS NOT MY FRIEND!

And I don't have a clue as to what everyone is talking about here.

I think I'll go take out my crayons and coloring books and rest my brain. It hurts even thinking about it!

I'm too old for this shit!

Cards are not interchangable. I've never filled a card because I delete shitty pics and download soon after I take them. They come in different sizes, like batteries. Go get the cheaper camera, I have a Sony Cybershot with an extra large screen. I love it. I also have a really expensive Cannon Rebel that I never use because it's large. (SLR) The Cannon has a couple different lenses. I don't know why I spent so much fucking money on it. I prefer the tiny Cybershot, it's metallic red and the battery lasts a long time.

i would say fuck it to their software and just load the pix directly from the camera to the computer...

like meissa was saying...just hook up your camera to the puter and look for it in 'my computer' as an external drive and then click on it....

I can have Dan take a look at it when we come for Lissa's B-day if you want.
